Our team has created a schedule for our project.
We hope to finish the application by April 4th.
We will be working on a case study from the 4th until the 25th of April.

We are starting to work today on the Android project. Our meetings up until today have been setting up of our SVN servers, development environments and other logistics of that type.

We are going to be developing Vault for Android. Based on the project: http://rpiiphoneproject.wordpress.com/

We are now begining work on iteration 1 of Vault.

We're putting in some overtime today. By the end of it, we're intending on having a working, basic to-do list application.

We'll also be thinking about the next step to take in our open source adventures.

We plan to make a basic to-do, then expand on this idea, integrated categories, priorities, etc. Then we plan to integrate the GPS in with the to-do list and complete the project.

Attached is what we want the User Interface to be like. It simply shows what screens we want, where we want them appear, and what we want on them.

Simple, yet Robust

Today's meeting was a large planning day. We've agreed on the visual interface that the user will see, and also on some organizational decisions.

We spent a good deal of time deciding on what the best kind of interface would be. We all agreed that the only way this software would take off after completion was if it was a simple, easily usable interface. People would not use an application if it takes more than 5 steps to accomplish a task. But on the other side, we don't want to make an application that has no advanced features.

So ultimately, we're going to have "simple, yet robust" as an official motto for our project. After this point, we're going to be splitting up the project between the three of us, and going to town on coding now that we've made decisions.

I have a vision

After some deliberation with Amit, he and I have come up with a tentative plan for the rest of the summer and for the following semester.

First off, since we're moving to a different project, we've made a new gmail account, blog (obviously), and googlecode page.

Our ultimate goal is to make a "smart" program to handle 'to-do' lists. What we mean by this, is that our to-do list will be linked to a certain location. When you make a shopping list, you would set a location, i.e. grocery store, and then when you launch the application to read your to-do list, the phone would do a look-up on your current location, and, say you were at your grocery store, then bring up your grocery list. So, instead of using the GPS to find your grocery store, we would use the GPS to find you, and bring up the matching to-do list for that location.

Our plan of action will be as follows.

1. Develop a to-do note application. Allow users to create notes with to-do lists for android

2. Investigate GPS capabilities. Explore finding current location and interpreting that data.

3. Link parts 1 and 2 together to complete the project.

We plan to start work on the to-do note application immediately, and make substantial progress through the last couple of weeks of summer.

This is the extent of our Android success thus far. We are brainstorming ideas for bigger projects now that we have the development environment set and ready to go.
